First pics (and letters) from Europe
With 2 shows under his belt and now in the Czech Republic, Jose and his friends have sent some pics from dinner this evening in Prague.
Jim Durkin, Jose’s sound director and Greg Smith, musical director, and the Maestro-Himself enjoy dinner at the Pub before settling in for the evening and show tomorrow.
Thus far, the reaction of the concerts in the Netherlands has been nothing short of fantastic. Great crowds, good sound, marvelous shows all-around. The reaction of the fans has been outstanding, as well. Here’s a smattering of some of the letters we’ve received already:
“Last Saturday and Sunday my dream came true! You came to the Netherlands and I was so privileged to be able to go to both concerts. It became even better, because in Haarlem I met you and you sang a piece of the song “La Balada del Pianista” in your dressing room for me.
When I told you I would be in The Hague the next evening, you promised to sing another part of this song on stage and you kept your promise. Although you told me you could not remember all the words and could only sing a little part, you made me the happiest woman on earth at that time. THE LIVING LEGEND Mr Feliciano is singing for me. It made this weekend one of the most wonderful weekends in my life.
I wrote you an e-mail earlier on August 24, 2008 to tell you that this song is the most beautiful song in the world (and only if you sing it of course). I felt like I won the lottery when you sang a piece for me personally. From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank you for that! My English is not good enough to express how I feel. You are the best singer and guitar player in the world. Your voice always bring so much emotions to me, it is the most beautiful voice I ever heard.
Luckily you are performing in Belgium next month. For me this is only 2 hours by train, so I will be there as well, the dream is not over yet! Thank you for being you and thank you, thank you, thank you for singing for me twice. Please come back soon to the Netherlands! I wish you, the band and the crew and of course your family all the best of health and happiness in the world. Elly”

“Dear José,
The first album I bought in my life was one of you. That must have been 1970 or so.
Yesterday I was at your concert in “het Paard” in The Hague; Holland. I really want to tell you it was a wonderfull concert. I loved every minute of it, and could tell all the audience was happy listening and moving on your music.
Thank you and keep going ! Josee”

“Hello Susan,
I want to thank you that you gave me the opportunity to meet Jose…My circle is now round…….It was for me a magical moment after 36 years finally meet Jose…. I could thank him for just being the person he is. I was so nervous….that I didn’t know what to say to him….Can you imagine…;-)…? Waiting for such a long time and at the defining moment you collapse…I hope that Jose could feel what I meant….I did my best to tell him how important he has been thru out my life…
I gave him my last 2 cd’s and hope that one day (when he has the time for this) will listen to it and knowing that he was (and still is )the person who inspired me and became very important to me!
Thank you once more Susan that you have been so nice to me to make this all possible for me. I know that you perhaps will get mails like this every day but please remember that you and Jose has made my circle completed!
God bless you both and please stay happy and be the persons you are! Alex”

“ Jose-I tremendously enjoyed your show yesterday evening. It is incredible that after so many years your voice and your skill are still the same. If anything they have considerably improved and they were already fantastic to begin with so the evening in your company was a real treat.
It was so nice to say that music has nothing to do with politics but is a way to heal the hearts of people all over the world who need a bit of joy in their lives. I couldn’t agree more. It was also very nice that you took the time to shake hands with people on the left side of the stage. If only I would have known. It must be real special to shake the hand of someone so talented.
I was really impressed with the way you did Billy Jean. Especially now that Michael is no longer among us it means a lot. I know he would have been so pleased and I’m sure he would have given you a hug. Maybe next time you can play Flight of the Bumble Bee. That is a great instrumental piece that I really enjoy.
I am already exploring your website as you can see and I will keep an eye on your concerts in the future. Thank you ever so much, Jose, for an unforgettable evening! Berry van Hagen”

“Last Saturday I went to your concert in Haarlem, The Netherlands, and i was really touched by a beautiful song which i never heard before.
I think the title must be “believe me” or “believe me when i tell you”.
Can you please inform me if this song is on one of your albums already.
By the way the concert was fantastic. We enjoyed it very much.

“Yesterday, the 18th of october ‘09, I attended your concert at “Paard van Troje” in the Hague. Again it was a really great concert! I enjoyed it very much. Being a fan from almost the first moment on I realized it was 40 years ago that I was back-stage after a concert. I was only 16 then and I still remember how shy and impressed I was. This was then made possible because I was also a member of the fanclub.
Thanks for the beautiful music.
Kind regards, Mille”
