Marcus Terry

Sad news of the passing of Marcus Terry Bonds, Jose’s former drummer, came to us today from his Daughter, Terri and her Mother, Betty.

Marcus made a name for himself in the Detroit music scene of the 60’s and 70’s working for Motown and others, including in a local band called “Stix & Stoned.”

In 1971 Susan “Omillian” (at the time) would bring her friend, Jose Feliciano, to a local nightspot in Dearborn, Michigan, a place called ‘Your Mustache,” where the Stix & Stoned had a tremendous following. Jose and the guitarist, Bobby Lewis, bassist, Sal Garcia and drummer, Marcus Terry became life-long friends while Marcus ultimately came on board with Jose as his touring drummer after the passing of our beloved Paulinho Magalhaes, in 1977.

Marcus toured with Jose over the course of six years, traveling several times around the world, performing with him on stage and on television, as well.

Honored as one of the World’s Greatest Drummers by Zildjian Cymbals, Marcus Terry made his mark on the music industry — and on our hearts. He will be sorely missed.
