The Billboard Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award
Billboard Magazine has long been recognized as THE Music Industry Magazine by which all others
are compared. Their charting of major releases in the various record markets remains a primary source
that the industry looks to in tracking the progress of a record release.

In 1993, Billboard established a special award for Lifetime Achievement, "El Premio Billboard", which
recognizes those artists who have made invaluable contributions to the Latin music industry. Recipients
include Placido Domingo, Tito Puente and Emilio Estefan.
On May 1st, 1996, Billboard Magazine's Lifetime Achievement Award, El Premio Billboard, was given
to Jose Feliciano. It has become an important addition to the many prestigious awards he has received
worldwide.

The awards Jose Feliciano has received over the years are a testament not only to his talent
as a musician and singer but to his generosity as human being. However, to show all of his
awards would take an entire web site. He has received virtually hundreds of awards, honorary
certificates and expressions of thanks for his charitable work. In this section we will highlight
some of Jose's more famous awards.

The Helen Keller Achievement Award
The American Foundation for the Blind was founded in 1921 to ensure that people who are blind or
visually impaired achieve equality of access and opportunity in their lives. Helen Keller joined their
crusade in 1924 and was their spokesperson and good-will ambassador for over forty years, until her
death in 1968.

The Helen Keller Achievement Awards were established by AFB in 1994 to acknowledge her
extraordinary efforts and promote the notable achievements of individuals and organizations that
have improved the quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired, and all people who are
disabled. In honor of the AFB's 10th Anniversary Gala in New York City, Jose Feliciano was presented
what he considers to be as important an accomplishment as any of his accolades, the 2004 Helen
Keller Personal Achievement Award. Given to him as a testament to his determination and drive to
become the very best he could be, Jose has shown the world his great ability, not only his disability,
and for this recognition, we are most proud.

Hollywood Walk of Fame
One of the most honored awards that could be bestowed upon an artist in the United States is embodied in the renowned Hollywood Walk of Fame. Over the years, people from all corners of the
globe come to California, in part, to see the names of the many
celebrities whose stars are imbedded in the sidewalks along Hollywood Blvd. and Vine. They have, in themselves, become a symbol of glamour, honor and celebrity --- and to be fortunate to have one with your name on it --- the pinnacle of achievement.
On December 1, 1987, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce unveiled their 1861st star, honoring
Jose Feliciano, located at 6541 Hollywood Blvd. Unlike many others, this award stands out as an
outward symbol of success, one that speaks to the world of both public and peer appreciation.
